LinkedIn Outreach, Separated Into Three Decisions: Source, Invite, Sequence

Finding a person, inviting them, and messaging after acceptance are three distinct jobs. They should be configured that way.

Most LinkedIn automation tools present outreach as one thing: a campaign. You fill out a form, pick a target audience, write a few messages, and hit start. The simplicity is appealing—until you want to change just one part of the process.

What if you want to update the invite note without touching the follow-up sequence? What if you want to use the same prospecting source for two completely different sequences targeted at different personas? What if you want to review your prospect list before a single invite goes out?

A single combined campaign form makes all of this awkward. Linxa now separates these into three independent pages: Sources, Smart Invite, and Sequences.

Step 1

Sources

Define where prospects come from—LinkedIn search, Sales Navigator list, or a saved search. The source is your prospect pipeline, independently configured and reusable.

Step 2

Smart Invite

Set the invite note (or keep it blank), control daily limits, and choose safety windows. Smart Invite manages the connection request—nothing more.

Step 3

Sequences

Write the follow-up messages that fire after acceptance. Timing, tone, branching conditions—all here, completely separate from how you found the person.

Why separation matters for safety

The most important consequence of this architecture is visible in the UI: if a Source has no attached Sequence, Linxa shows a warning. Invites can still go out—but you will see, clearly, that accepted connections have nowhere to go after they accept.

Source without a Sequence

This source is sending invites but has no follow-up sequence attached. Accepted connections will not receive any messages. Attach a sequence or pause the source.

That warning is not an error—it is a deliberate state. Sometimes you want to grow your network without messaging anyone. But you should choose that consciously, not discover it weeks later when your acceptance rate is high but your reply rate is zero.

How the pieces connect

A Source feeds into Smart Invite, which manages the connection. Once a connection is accepted, Linxa looks at the Source to find the attached Sequence and begins the message cadence. You can attach multiple Sequences to different Sources, reuse the same Source with different Sequences over time, or change the Sequence mid-campaign without recreating the Source.

What this replaces

Previously, outreach was configured as one combined campaign screen. Sources, invite settings, and sequences were co-located in a single form. This worked for simple use cases but made it hard to iterate on any single part. A change to the invite note required reopening the entire campaign. A new prospect list required duplicating the sequence.

The three-page structure is available now in the Growth Agent section of your Linxa dashboard. Existing campaigns have been migrated automatically—your sources, invites, and sequences are all intact, just now accessible from separate pages.
